Taos Ikat
This blanket was inspired by a fabulous weaving displayed at a renowned museum in Taos, New Mexico, that museum specializes in the Native American, Hispanic and international art. Ikat originated in Indonesia and has become a nearly universal weaving style. The technique is common in South and Central America, dating from pre-Columbian times. Ikat uses a resist-dying process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft fibers. Dye is applied before the cloth is weven to create the pattern. Authentic Ikat fabrics are woven by hand on narrow looms. Our jacquard loom interpretation of traditional Ikat captures the marvelous depth of color and subtlety inherent in this ancient art from. Unnapped, whipstitched. 82% wool/18% cotton. Dry clean. Made in the USA.
