Wool Is Still King In Bemidji
Bemidji Woolen Mills was founded in 1920 by Ira P. Batchelder
and Ira H. Batchelder. As father and son, they set out to produce the
highest quality authentic outdoor woolen apparel for the logging industry.
The market area was mainly Northern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin.
Logging has changed dramatically from the early days. However; the need
for our traditional woolen apparel remains in high demand for today's
outdoor enthusiast.
During the 1930s and 1940s, northern Minnesota was discovered
as a "great northwoods playground" by the thousands of individuals
who came to explore our great forests, spectacular lakes and pristine
rivers. Bemidji Woolen Mills was also discovered and our trustworthy woolen
garments won a special place in the wardrobe of those original outdoor
enthusiasts. Hence our authentic trademark was born.
Today, over 82 years later, Bemidji Woolen Mills continues
to manufacture essential woolen apparel for the outdoor industry. Our
highly skilled seamstresses take pride in their dedication to their perfection.
We are a team working together, striving to uphold the highest industry
standards. You will find our staff knowledgeable, friendly and eager to
serve you.
I invite you to rediscover the versatility of wool...the
original miracle fiber.
