1206 Birkebeiner Tribute: Sweater, Hat & Mitten Graphs
In 1206, when Prince Haakon Haakonasson was rescued by two Viking skiers during the Norwegian Civil War, he was too young to imagine the impact he would have on his people and the world. As King Haakon Haakonasson IV, he ended the Civil Wars of Norway in 1240, and his legacy began. Over 900 years have passed since that rescue, yet it has not been forgotten. Each year, thousands of skiers participate in cross-country skiing marathons in 20 different countries, a tribute to those brave Vikings, and the future King. I created these patterns to honor that tribute!
